Aside from the $70 auto start how much more do you have to pay. (ie. Installation, "interface module")

Exactly! Don't focus on the initial cost of the hardware on-sale.
Perhaps first go to an installer and ask their advice. If they are selling hardware that they know how to easily integrate then that could be cheaper and less prone to cause problems.

Yeah. I bought a remote starter from Canadian tire as a gift for my parents. Canadian tire doesn't install them so they had to take it to future shop to install it. Cost was like $300-$400 for install and bypass module.

I've had a system for 7 years and never had an issue. Works great!

I just had a remote starter installed on my Accord for $350+tax in Winnipeg (included starter+labour and 2 key fob, 2000ft).

FYI, a lot of GM from 2007 up have remote start pre-wired, all you have to do is buy a key fob, and program it!

Can you provide some more information on this. How do I find out if my car is pre-wired (Buick Lacrosse 2012)?

Look in your glove box for a sticker with a bunch of codes. AP8 on some models (my silverado) means that it's pre-wired. 2007-2010 can be programmed yourself 2010 up, you'll have to take to the dealer. If you have the correct code for your vehicle, buy a key fob off Amazon /Ebay $20,then take it in to the dealer, they charged me $68 for my 2012 Equinox. YouTube is your friend!

I think I have similar remote start and whenever car battery disconnected (AC repair, etc..) then remote start won't work for me and have to reprogram by dealer. I think better to get remote start from car manufacturers when you buy new car.

Called around. $225 to install and they won't warranty the work. $389 for the companies version installed with warranty. I bought one but will be returning. Only a deal if you do it yourself which I'm not going to attempt

Depends on the car, plus most car will need a key chip bypass module on top of the starter.
I have been in the industry for 10+ years and honestly wouldn't advise doing it yourself if you are not familiar with remote starters and car electronics.

It seems only the LCD starter version (last link) is a 2-way whereas the others are 1 way? The LCD one is only showing up as regular price here in Calgary.

Honestly you better get it done somewhere reliable, on top of having a hard time, If you do a bad manipulation there is some very high risk of damaging something expensive $$. Buy the hardware where you will get it install too, it will probably come almost to the same price and the work will be warranty.

Done the install before on an older car that didn't need any bypass or modules. Took 8 hours, pure frustration. On my next car, went to Audio Heaven, and they were done in an hour or two. Definitely worth it to pay a specialist to do it, the headaches of this DIY is terrible.

It's like 400 for them to install. I guess I will pass on all together

Don't know why anyone would buy this. Spend a little bit more money for something reliable such as the Compustar G6. With alarm, by-pass module, starter, and installation you could get it done for $350.
